The security at Connolly Hospital Blanchardstown is provided by a security contract company with the security guards under the control and management of the Hospital Security Manager, Mr. Bernie Hanley.
The Security Department provides a 24 hour cover throughout the hospital with security guards in the Emergency Department, the Main Concourse and on hospital patrol. The hospital grounds and the outside units are covered by a mobile patrol. All units are in radio/telephone contact with a base station and also by pager.
Our aim is to provide a safe and secure environment for patients, staff and visitors.

The Security Manager’s office is located in the Main Concourse. There is a security room in the Emergency Department that is used as a CCTV monitoring and radio base.

The Security Department’s main role is supporting and assisting staff during their encounters with violent or disruptive patients, as well as enforcing the hospital regulations in regard to visiting times and the no smoking policy.
The Security Department are responsible for all the fire alarm and intruder alarm activations.
The mobile unit monitors the traffic flow and the car parking facilities, ensuring that the parking and traffic regulations are adhered to as well as ensuring that vehicles are safe from theft and damage while on hospital property.
Other security roles include the keeping of order in public waiting areas such as A&E and Outpatients. We also provide security and access to the Psychiatric Unitas well as monitoring and controlling access within the hospital. We are also responsible for issuing identification badges and car parking permits to the hospital staff.
The security department also deals with incidents of theft and damage and liase with the local gardai in the investigation of criminal matters.
